The console powers on, the fan runs, the light is on — but the screen stays black or the TV says “no signal”. In most of these cases the fault is the console’s own HDMI port, not the TV and not the cable. At the Comp-Master lab we replace and repair HDMI ports on PlayStation 4, PS4 Slim, PS4 Pro, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox One S/X and Xbox Series S/X — by soldering, at component level.
The failure is almost always mechanical: the cable was pulled at an angle, the console was moved with the cable plugged in, or a child knocked it over. The pins inside the port bend or break, and sometimes the traces on the board around the port tear as well.
How to tell it’s the HDMI port
- The console powers on and makes sound, but there’s no picture at all.
- The picture only comes back when you hold the cable at a certain angle.
- You tried another cable, another TV input and another TV — no change.
- You can see a bent or broken pin inside the port (shine a torch on it).
- The console was dropped or yanked by the cable shortly before the fault.
- On PS5: the blue light blinks and the screen stays black.
If the console doesn’t power on at all, the cause is usually the power supply or the mainboard — the diagnosis will tell.
What the repair involves
- Disassembling the console and removing the mainboard.
- Removing the damaged port with hot air, carefully around the neighbouring chips.
- Cleaning the pads and inspecting damaged traces.
- Soldering a new HDMI port and testing continuity on every pin.
- Trace restoration on the board — where a cable pull or a previous repair attempt tore the tracks.
- Full functional test with picture and sound before the console goes back.

We accept consoles from anywhere in Israel
A console is light and easy to ship, and we take them in from all over the country. A UPS courier collects the parcel from your home or office, and you can also drop it off and pick it up at a nearby PickUp point — convenient if you’re not home during the day. Order it on the lab collection service page.
How to pack: send the console only (no controllers, cables or discs unless we asked for them), wrap it in bubble wrap and place it in a box padded on all sides. If you’re in the Ashdod area, simply bring it to Gia Oni 6, Ashdod.
FAQ
Could a new HDMI cable be enough?
Not if the port is damaged. A new cable helps only when the cable itself failed. Quick test: if the picture returns when you wiggle the cable, the problem is the port.
How long does the repair take?
Usually 1–3 business days from approval. When board traces are damaged the work takes longer, and we’ll tell you in advance.
Will my games and saves survive?
Yes. An HDMI repair doesn’t touch the drive or your account. Even so, before any console repair it’s worth making sure important saves are in the cloud.
The console powers on and shuts down after a few minutes with an overheating warning — is that related?
No, that’s a cooling fault: cooling system cleaning and new thermal paste. We have a separate page on PlayStation 5 cooling system cleaning.
Someone already tried to fix it and failed — is there still a chance?
Yes, we get such cases often. A second-attempt repair usually requires restoring the traces around the port, which is why it costs more.
