Laptop battery replacement — laptop battery inside an opened laptop at Comp Master lab

Is your laptop battery down to an hour instead of a full day, or does the computer shut off without warning? It is probably time for a laptop battery replacement.

Comp Master is a professional computer repair lab for laptop repair in Ashdod. We replace batteries for all brands — Lenovo, HP, Dell, Asus, Acer, MSI and more — with up to a 6-month warranty on labor. Can’t make it to Ashdod? We offer nationwide pickup and return service.

Signs your battery needs replacing:

  1. Short battery life: a battery that used to last 4–6 hours now dies within an hour — a clear sign of wear.
  2. Sudden shutdowns: the laptop powers off at 20–40% charge, or the percentage jumps erratically.
  3. Works only when plugged in: unplug the charger and the laptop dies instantly. Before replacing the battery it is important to rule out the charger and the charging port — that is part of our diagnostics.
  4. Swollen battery: a bulging bottom cover, a lifted touchpad or keyboard — a dangerous condition that needs immediate attention.
  5. Excessive heat: the battery area gets hot even under light load.
  6. System warnings: Windows shows “Consider replacing your battery”, or the manufacturer’s diagnostic tool reports high wear.

The lab team will get back to you as soon as possible

Swollen laptop battery — why you shouldn’t wait

A swollen lithium battery is not a cosmetic issue. Gases build up inside the cells: the case deforms, the keyboard and touchpad suffer, and in extreme cases leakage or even fire is possible. If you notice swelling — stop charging the laptop, don’t press on the cover, and bring it to the lab as soon as possible. Acting in time saves you an expensive motherboard repair later.

Why do batteries wear out? A word about charge cycles

Every lithium battery is designed for roughly 300–500 full charge cycles. After two or three years of daily use, capacity typically drops to 50–70% of the original — a completely natural process. Wear is accelerated by heat (for example, when the cooling system is clogged with dust — it is worth combining the replacement with a cooling system cleaning), staying at 100% charge all the time, and frequent deep discharges.

Original battery or compatible?

Both have their place — the choice depends on the model, availability and budget:

  • Original (OEM): made for your laptop’s manufacturer, a 100% fit; recommended whenever it is in stock or available to order.
  • Quality compatible battery: a cost-effective option for older models or when the original is no longer produced. We only work with proven suppliers and quality cells.

Thanks to our own spare-parts store Comp-Parts, a wide range of batteries is in stock, and for rare models we arrange special orders from abroad.

What determines the price of a battery replacement?

The cost consists of two parts — labor and the battery itself — and depends on several factors:

  • Laptop design: in some models the battery is accessible with partial disassembly; others (mainly ultrabooks and gaming laptops) require a full teardown.
  • Battery type: original or compatible, capacity (Wh) and availability for your specific model.
  • Add-on services: since the laptop is already open, it makes sense to combine the replacement with a cooling system cleaning.

You will find up-to-date prices for all replacement types in the price table at the bottom of this page. For an exact quote, send us your full laptop model on WhatsApp — we will reply with price and availability.

How we replace a battery at the lab

  1. Diagnostics: we test the battery, the charger and the charging circuit — to make sure a replacement will actually solve the problem.
  2. Matching: we source the right battery by exact part number (P/N) — from stock or to order.
  3. Professional replacement: careful disassembly, battery installation and proper reconnection of all connectors — no opening marks, no damaged plastics.
  4. Calibration and testing: charge/discharge test, battery sensor calibration and a real-world runtime measurement.
  5. Warranty: up to 6 months on labor — with support after the repair too.

Tips to extend your new battery’s life:

  • For daily use, try to keep the charge between 20% and 80%.
  • Avoid heat: don’t work on a blanket or pillow that blocks airflow, and clean the cooling system once a year.
  • If the laptop is plugged in most of the time — enable the manufacturer’s battery conservation mode if available.
  • Use only an original, fully working charger.

Why replace your battery at Comp Master?

  • Component-level lab: if the problem is in the charging circuit or the motherboard — we diagnose and fix it, not just swap parts.
  • Parts in stock: our own spare-parts store means high availability and fair prices.
  • Speed: in most cases when the battery is in stock, laptop battery replacement is fast — usually one business day, often same-day; for special-order models about 3 working days on average, plus express out-of-queue repair for a surcharge.
  • Up to 6 months warranty on labor.
  • Nationwide pickup and return — without leaving home.

Laptop battery replacement — FAQ

How long does the replacement take?

For most models — one business day, and often same-day when the battery is in stock; for special-order models about 3 working days on average, with express out-of-queue repair available for a surcharge. If your battery has to be ordered, we will let you know the expected lead time in advance.

Can I use the laptop without a battery, on AC power only?

Technically yes, but it is not recommended long-term: the battery also acts as a mini-UPS protecting you from sudden power cuts. An abrupt power loss can cause data loss and even OS corruption.

How can I check battery health myself?

On Windows, run powercfg /batteryreport in the command prompt to get a detailed report. Compare Design Capacity with Full Charge Capacity: a drop below 60–70% is a clear sign it is time for a replacement. Not sure? Bring the laptop in and we will test it.

Replaced the battery but the laptop still doesn’t last?

Sometimes the culprit is not the battery but the charging circuit, the port or the power settings. That is why our diagnostics covers the entire charging path — so you get a real solution, not just a new part.

What do I do with the old battery?

Leave it with us — we send old batteries for proper recycling. Lithium batteries must never go into regular trash.
